This $600 million of funding is to be used to fund projects that will improve Alberta's flood resiliency. Types of projects that will be funded includes berms, dykes and riverbank stabilization in municipalities and First Nation settlements.
The Government is also taking steps on larger structural flood mitigation projects such as a diversion tunnel at Highwood River, an off-stream storage site at Springbank, a dry dam at the confluence of McLean Creek and the Elbow River and upgrades to a number of dams and other water management structures.
